Ex-Professor, Department of Sustainable EngineeringAfter receiving his B.Sc. from the College of Industrial Technology of Nihon University, Dr. Isohata worked as a structural engineer for NKK Corporation, a Japanese steel making company, and currently JFE Engineering, until he was appointed the Manager & Civil Engineer of NKK London in 1985. During his stay in the U.K. he started his research work on historical aspects of civil engineering including iron and steel bridges. After returning to Tokyo, Dr. Isohata was appointed Senior Manager and was involved in several bridge projects including Tokyo Transit Bay Road as a head of the business section. He was appointed Principal of Steel Structural Division of NKK Corporation in 2001 and also of JFE Engineering in 2002. He moved from JFE Engineering to the College of Industrial Technology of Nihon University as a professor in 2004. Dr. Isohata has studied civil engineering history for more than 30 years and has been involved in conservation projects of historical bridges. His authored more than 90 papers and articles on civil engineering.
