－　　－13Published PaperShallow Gas Hydrate Accumulations in Lake BaikalShin’ya NISHIO, Oleg KHLYSTOV, Hirokazu SUGIYAMA, Andrey KHABUYEV and Oleg BELOUSOVLake Baikal is the only freshwater lake containing natural gas hydrates in the bottom sediments. During one and half decade, gas hydrate researches in Lake Baikal within the framework of international projects and programs have been achieved. The shallow gas hydrates were sampled at many mud-volcano/ gas-seep structures in South Basin and Cen-tral Basin based on the location of BSRs, and the geological-geophysical features of the shallow gas hydrate were also allocated. We reviewed the important results of their activities about the shallow gas hydrate research field and men-tioned the main results of cone penetration tests as a new approach for estimating the shallow gas hydrate accumula-tion.Keywords: natural gas hydrate, bottom sediments, core sample, cone penetration test, Lake Baikalバイカル湖の湖底表層に存在するメタンハイドレート　バイカル湖は淡水湖として唯一，メタンハイドレートの存在が確認されている湖である。最近，国際共同プロジェクトによりバイカル湖のメタンハイドレートに関する研究が進められている。バイカル湖の中央湖盆，南湖盆で確認されたBSR分布に基づき，多くの泥火山・ガス湧出サイトの湖底表層からメタンハイドレート試料が採取され，地質情報，物理探査情報も収集された。ここでは，今までの研究成果を概観すると共に，表層型メタンハイドレートの集積状況を把握するために実施したコーン貫入試験によるメタンハイドレート層の上端深度推定の結果について述べる。キーワード：メタンハイドレート・湖底堆積土・コア試料・コーン貫入試験・バイカル湖Journal （掲載誌）物理探査，Vol. 67, No. 1, pp. 55–64, Jan. 2014.
