-  -12Shinya NISHIOProfessor, Department of Civil EngineeringShinya Nishio is a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, Nihon University. He received his Doctorate of Engineering in 1990 from Hokkaido University. Dr. Nishio was a chief researcher of Shimizu Corporation's Institute of Technology before joining Nihon University in 2015. From January 1991 to May 1992, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of California at Berkeley. His current research activities include geotechnical engineering, geophysical surveying and gas hydrate resource development. Dr. Nishio is an active member of SEG.
