Dr. Abe received his Bachelor of Engineering in 1972 and Doctorate of Engineering in 2004 from Nihon University. He specializes in the study of structural engineering, bridge engineering and maintenance management engineering, having authored a number of technical papers. Dr. Abe is a member of JSCE, JSMS and JCI. His main research themes are: (1) study of the evaluation of load carrying capacity and fatigue resistance of RC slabs for highway bridges; (2) effects of load uctuation on fatigue resistance of RC slabs; (3) development of replacement slabs for damaged RC slabs; (4) evaluation of fatigue resistance of SFRC pavement technology with low shrinkage type mixture material for orthotropic steel decks and RC slabs; (5) development of cement materials and repair/reinforcement technologies for damaged RC slabs; and (6) study of columnar compressive strength of concrete members and clack diagnosis technology for concrete structures using small diameter core drilling.
