-  -2Norio HIRAYAMAProfessor, Department of Mechanical EngineeringNorio Hirayama is a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Next Generation Composite Material Research Center, College of Industrial Technology, Nihon University. He is also a guest professor at Nagoya University. He received a bachelor's degree from Meiji University in 1980 and a doctoral degree in engineering from Nihon University in 1981. He has worked for Nihon University since 2007. Before that, he was the director of the Glass Fiber Research Institute of Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. and was actively engaged in research and development of ber reinforced plastic (FRP).Dr. Hirayama’s research interests are as follows.1) FRP molding methods・Continuous pultrusion method of ber reinforced thermoplastic (FRTP)・Resin transfer molding of FRTP2) Composite materials with new functions・Composite material with biocompatibility・FRP with excellent heat resistance3) Numerical calculations using computer aided engineering (CAE)・Destruction simulation of composite material・Numerical material test based on homogenization theoryDr. Hirayama is a member of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Japan Society for Composite Materials, the Japan Society for Design Engineering, the Japan Reinforced Plastics Society, and the Japan Society for Computational Engineering and Science. He is also the chairman of the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) drafting committee on glass ber.
