Previous studies suggested that cerebral cortex activity during the preparatory period affects the success or failure of response inhibition. To examine this validity, in this study, we obtained the contingent negative variation (CNV), which is used as an index of cerebral cortex activity during the preparatory period of response in the stop-signal task (SST). As a result, in the prefrontal region excluding the left sensorimotor area, the amplitude of CNV was significantly larger for failed inhibitions than for successful inhibitions. It was especially noticeable in late CNV, which reflected motor preparation and anticipatory attention. The performance in the SST has typically been described as a race between go and stop processes, and response inhibition depends on the relative finishing time of these two processes. Hence, because of the increased prefrontal activity, the go processing finished before the stop processing and the response inhibition failed.Keywords: contingent negative variation, inhibition, prefrontal, preparation, stop-signal taskストップシグナル課題時における反応準備期の前頭皮質活動が 反応抑制の成否に及ぼす影響　変化する環境への適応において，不適切な反応を抑制することは，ヒトが目的とする行動を遂行するには不可欠な実行機能である。反応準備期における大脳皮質の活動性が反応抑制の成否に及ぼす影響を示唆した先行研究の妥当性について検討するため，本研究においては，ストップシグナル課題を反応抑制課題に採用し，反応準備期の大脳皮質活動の指標として用いられる随伴陰性変動（CNV）を求めた。その結果，左運動感覚領域を除く前頭前野領域において，反応抑制成功時よりも失敗時のほうが有意にCNVの振幅が高かった。特に運動準備と予測的注意活動を反映している後期CNVで顕著であった。反応抑制が成功するか否かは反応実行の情報処理と反応抑制の情報処理のいずれか先に終了した処理がパフォーマンスとして現れると考えられている（レースモデル）。本研究における結果からは，反応準備期における前頭前野の活動性が高いため，遅れて開始する抑制の情報処理よりも反応実行の情報処理が先に完了し，反応が実行される（抑制に失敗する）ことが推察された。キーワード：随伴陰性変動，抑制，前頭皮質，反応準備，ストップシグナル課題Journal（掲載誌）Neuroreport Vol. 27, No. 9, 665-670, Jun 2016Published Paper
