Thompson, MC Medical Officer - Lt Col Paul C. Sheldon, MC Medical Officer - Capt Leroy Lamm, MC Medical Officer - Capt T. T. Beatty, MC Medical Officer - Capt Cyrus R. Friedman, MC Medical Officer - 1st Lt Abraham Cohen, MC Interpreter - Sgt Makoto Sugino Buddhist Priest - Dr Hanayama Escort Guard and Removal Party - enlisted men selected and designated by Commanding 5. The condemned were notified of the time and date of execution at approximately 2100 hours on 21 December 1948. Present at the notification were the following: Col Morris C. Handwerk - Commanding Officer, Sugaao Prison Lt Col James W. Davis - Executive Officer, Sugamo Prison Major Patrick D. Walsh - Chaplain, Sugamo Prison Capt W. F. Gilfillan - Provost Marshal Section, Eighth Army (Recorder) Sgt Makoto Sugino - Interpreter, Sugaao Prison Dr. S. Hanayama - Buddhist Priest 6. The detailed reports of the executions are attached as Inclosures 2 through 8. 7. Copies of Death Certificates are attached as Inclosures 9 through 15. 8. The bodies were delivered to Quartermaster Graves Registration Service, Eighth Army, for final disposition, and receipts were obtained for same. 9. The executions were carried out in an efficient manner and with military precision. No untoward incidents occurred. Secrecy was maintained throughout. 10. The classification of attached orders marked "Secret" was changed to “Restricted” at 0800 hours, 23 December 1948. Officer, Sugamo Prison 44 ─ 39 ─
