SUBJECT TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: A-5⽂書(英⽂) : Statement of Facts Concerning the Execution of Seven Japanese War Criminals, 23 December 1948 1. The following is a detailed account of the activities of the undersigned in connection with the execution and final disposition of remains of seven war criminals executed 23 December 1948. a. I was present at the execution, but acted only in the capacity of Eighth Army Quartermaster representative and Graves Registration officer. b. Each of the seven remains were identified in my presence and the fingerprints personally recorded on two copies of WD QMC Form 1042, a copy of which has been forwarded to the Office of The Quartermaster General, Washington 25, D. C. (See attached inclosures) c. The remains were placed in knocked down type wood caskets. The lids were securely fastened down and loaded on a 2 1/2 ton cargo truck by a detail of enlisted men from the Sugamo Prison Detachment, under my supervision. d. Two officers and sixteen enlisted armed guards were selected by the Commanding Officer, Sugamo Prison Detachment, to convoy the remains to Yokohama. e. The vehicles and personnel in the convoy were spotted as indicated: HEADQUARTERS EIGHTH UNITED STATES ARMY OFFICE OF THE QUARTERMASTER APO 343, c/o Postmaster San Francisco, California SECRET 36 ─ 31 ─4 January 1949
