─ 14 ─Biographical Sketches of the AuthorMasashi Yamashiro, an associate professor, Department of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences, College of Industrial Technology, Nihon University. He received his B.Sc. in 1994 and M.Sc. in 1996 from Ryukyu University and received D.Sc. in 1999 from Niigata University. He has been belonging to The Physical Society of Japan and The Japan Society of Applied Physics. His main subject is a theoretical study of the superconductivity, especially, microscopic investigation of the tunneling and Josephson phenomena at superconducting junctions utilizing the eld theoretical methods for condensed matter physics, which can be applied to the important transport phenomena such as the spintronics. Secondary, he has an interest in the rst principle analysis of chemical surface reactions for adsorption/desorption of atoms or molecules, for example, hydrogen adsorption on the surface of graphite, plasma-material interaction in semiconductor processes. Using the potential functions among atoms obtained from the rst principle calculations, classical MD simulations can be performed with higher accuracy, which have also attracted his attention.
